UK Emergency Support Services members are drawn from all walks of life who have a wide range of backgrounds and skillsets with a common attribute shared by every one of them; the desire, passion and resolve to help victims of disasters and major incidents in the UK.

Be part of the team on the ground, providing support to our emergency services and communities when it matters.
As a Response Volunteer, you will be in a varied and diverse role each time you deploy on operational duties. The role sits at both ends of the support spectrum, ranging from duties such as staffing access/egress gates in conjunction with the police & fire service to handing out bottles of water, staffing a welfare vehicle, right up to possibly providing hands on support at major incidents. Our community support function will also see deployments where volunteers are assisting with flood preparations and post flood recovery operations, snow cell support and more.
Please Note: To apply for this role you must be at least 17 years old. You can start your training from 17 years old, however deployment is not permitted until you’re 18 years old. You must be in a position to respond to a call out (i.e. have your own transport)
Be part of the team behind the scenes supporting with administration, promotional events, recruitment of volunteers and much more. The support Team ensures that we can carry out our support functions; this team is varied and can really use skills and people from all walks of life.
Please Note: You must be at least 16 years old to apply for the Support Volunteer role.
Be Part of the team that looks after both UKESS Staff and Member of the public and emergency services and other aid staff on and off operational duties.
As a welfare volunteer, you will be an integral part of the support that UKESS provides, both to our teams and to members of additional agencies during and post operational deployment. The role, for which we will train you, provides physical (food, refreshments, health) and emotional welfare support, as well as signposting and referral to ongoing support. Whether you want to be deployed with a response team to an incident, or be part of the post incident care provision, your support will be valuable to the wider team. There will be additional opportunities to deploy to non-emergency operations, providing basic welfare functions to frontline and other agencies.
Please Note: You must be at least 18 years old to apply for the Welfare Volunteer role. If you are applying for the deployment role you must be in a position to respond to call outs (i.e. have your own transport).
Be part of the team that provides professional first aid cover at events and functions, supporting other voluntary sector causes as well as enabling the re-investment of funds into our cause.

Be part of the team that helps to provide valuable skills and education to the community.
As part of our civic work, we aim to support community education through partnership working and joint delivery to the community. The Education Team will support organisations and agencies such as the Fire Services, to deliver education and awareness programmes to the community, enhancing the impact of such topics on individuals and groups around the country.

Be part of the team that supports the running of fundraising event on behalf of UKESS, as well as working events for clients as part of a multi-disciplined team, enabling the re-investment of funds into our cause.
