01 Jan New Year, New Partnerships, New Teams
Firstly, Happy New Year from all at UK Emergency Support Services.
Throughout December and over the Christmas period, the behind the scenes team have been working on the plan for 2020.
There are lots of exciting things planned for the year ahead and we are pleased to say that we have received over twenty new volunteer applications over Christmas, we will be looking forward welcoming these volunteers to the team.
There are a few things that we must keep under wraps for a while longer, but a few things that we can tell you about now.
Recruitment Drive 2020 – We are going to be launching a recruitment drive across 3 areas starting in February. These will be for all of our existing volunteer roles as well as some specialist roles including Social Media Management, Photography, Administration and Human Resources support.
Launching a New Area Team – At the end of March, we will be launching a new Area Team to be based in Milton Keynes. This Team will consist of Emergency Response Volunteers, Welfare Volunteers and Fundraising Volunteers. There will be additional roles in the area as the team develops. The team will provide support within Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire and will be headed up by Andrea Piddington as the new Area Commander.
Launching of the National Response Team – Also at the end of March, we will be launching our National Response Team. This team will be formed using existing and new volunteers from across all areas who will respond to response requests across a wider geographical area. The members of the team will undergo additional and specialised training to ensure that they are equipped to deal with situations around the country. In addition, they will be supported by a HQ management team, a control team and an Operational Commander. In addition to response requests from public services, the national response team will provide additional support to area teams at larger response deployments.
New Partnerships – We are in the process of developing response partnerships with 3 additional Organisation’s across Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas. These partnerships will allow us to provide support to them during their response calls for support and will mean that together, we can provide assistance to more people.
Supporting Mental Health – As part of our new partnerships, we are in discussions with Climbing Out, a national Organisation that supports people who have experienced trauma and mental health issues through outdoor activities and much more. Climbing Out is headed up by former professional athlete, Kelda Wood, founder of the organisation. Our Welfare Team will be able to provide information about the programmes to our volunteers and outside personnel, in addition to providing a direct referral to Climbing Out on behalf of those who would benefit from their services.
